Tendril Selected as 2012 New Energy Pioneer
BOULDER, Colo. & NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--
Bloomberg (News - Alert) New Energy Finance today announced Tendril as a 2012 New
Energy Pioneer. Now in its third year, the Bloomberg New Energy Finance
Pioneer program named nine other companies at the fifth annual Bloomberg
New Energy Finance Summit in New York.
The Bloomberg New Energy Finance Pioneers program identifies companies
from around the world that are changing the energy landscape forever. An
independent panel of industry experts from banking, academia,
corporations, utilities and technology providers chose the honorees by
assessing them against three criteria: potential scale, innovation and
momentum.
Tendril is transforming the way the world uses energy with Tendril
Connect™, its cloud platform that connects utilities and energy
service providers, "smart" products and services providers, application
developers and consumers. Today, more than 35 top utilities, as well as
leading providers of smart energy products and services subscribe to the
Tendril Connect platform to unlock untapped revenue opportunities, meet
regulatory requirements, improve product and service reliability and
efficiency, increase consumer engagement and satisfaction, and improve
environmental sustainability.
"We are honored to be named to such a prestigious list of energy
innovators," said Adrian Tuck, CEO of Tendril. "We've spent seven years
painstakingly building a cloud platform that reduces the complexity
surrounding all the communications and connections necessary for
continued development of a more intelligent, networked electric grid-an
Energy Internet. The merits of our unique approach are being borne out
by the growing number of utilities, Smart Grid infrastructure players,
industry leaders-like Siemens (News - Alert) Energy, energy ecosystem partners, and
now, application developers who are using our platform to connect with
each other and to consumers."
Built on Tendril's cloud platform, Tendril
Energize™ is an application suite that leverages proven behavioral
models, so that utilities and ecosystem product and service providers
can persistently engage consumers with Energy Efficieny, Demand
Response, and Load Control programs to balance loads, optimize
generation costs and improve environmental sustainability.
This year's winners represent a broad range of industries including
bioenergy, energy storage, electric vehicles, Smart Grid, solar and
water. By rewarding game changing innovators, Bloomberg New Energy
Finance hopes to highlight the speed of change in the sectors it serves,
which play such an important role in the shift towards a low-carbon
economy.
"It has been a tough year for the clean energy sector, with severe
pressure on the profit margins of manufacturers, a sharp fall in share
prices, some notable bankruptcies, cuts in European government subsidy
support, and a reduction in the availability of bank finance," said
Michael Liebreich, summit chairman and head of Bloomberg New Energy
Finance. "Despite this, the quality and volume of applicants we received
for the 2012 Pioneers program was higher than ever-a testimony to the
strength of the forces driving the sector and to the sort of
high-quality entrepreneurs which it has been attracting over the past
few years. We congratulate this year's winners and look forward to
tracking their progress."
Other 2012 winners include CleanPower Finance, Ecotality, Emefcy,
Lanzatech, Maxwell, Silver Spring Networks, Smarter Grid Solutions,
Va-Q-Tec and Xtreme Power.
The Bloomberg New Energy Finance Pioneers Program is sponsored by Ernst
& Young.
