Advance in QuorumSoft Alike(TM) Dramatically Reduces RPO for Citrix XenServer Virtualized Environments

BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Companies with rapidly changing critical data can now dramatically reduce their recovery point objective (RPO) by using QuorumSoft's breakthrough new single pass backup and replication capabilities for Citrix XenServer virtualized environments. QuorumSoft, a leading provider in data protection for virtual environments, is delivering this enhanced disaster recovery (DR) capability as part of its Alike(TM) backup and disaster recovery solution for Citrix XenServer.

For example, if it takes two hours to back up a XenServer virtual machine and then another two hours to replicate the backed up data as part of a two-step process, the RPO is effectively four hours. Using Alike's direct, simultaneous backup and replication reduces the RPO to two hours, an extremely valuable improvement for companies with critical operational data that changes constantly.

Alike uses an innovative deduplication technology to reduce the time required for both first time and subsequent scheduled replication. XenServer users can back up multiple virtual machines (VMs) concurrently with Alike, making it possible to easily scale the solution to meet their unique requirements. Alike includes the ability to choose push or pull replication to meet different operational requirements.
