Climate Savers Computing Launches New Website

Aug 29, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Climate Savers Computing Initiative (CSCI), the international consortium focused on reducing the energy consumption and carbon footprint of computing and communications equipment through power management and more energy efficient computing technologies, announced the launch of its new website and record growth of Affiliate and Associate memberships.

CSCI said its website is a resource for helping businesses and people realize the environmental and financial benefits of power management and energy efficient computing. The site highlights how CSCI and its partners have already helped decrease CO2 emissions from computing equipment by 32 million to 36 million metric tons, which is equal to more than $2 billion in annual energy savings.

With its recent expansion into energy efficient networking, CSCI estimates that the global IT industry can offset 38 million metric tons of CO2 emissions by 2015 through the development and deployment of more energy efficient networking equipment. With Broadcom recently joining CSCI's Networking Workgroup to collaborate with other members to advance highly efficient networking equipment, CSCI has now grown to nearly 700 members.

Climate Savers Computing Initiative is reducing energy consumption by increasing the energy efficiency of computing equipment, increasing the adoption and deployment of power management, and providing education about the benefits of energy efficient computing.
