NYU Stern School of Business Relies on Ping Identity and Socialtext to Power their Next-Gen Collaboration Portal

NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

Today more than 6,000 active students and staff members at the New York University Stern School of Business are collaborating on projects and easily accessing hundreds of applications. They are each doing so with a single user name and password thanks to the help of Cloud Identity Security leader Ping Identity and its SaaS Partner Program member Socialtext, the leader in Cloud-based social collaboration.

"We were genuinely surprised. We were not expecting it to be so easy," said Stern CIO Anand Padmanabhan. "While our review of Open SSO offered us an 8-month implementation process, with PingFederate our applications and the Socialtext portal were SSO-enabled in two days."

One of the world's most prestigious business schools, the NYU Stern School of Business's IT team carries a similar reputation for its use of smart technologies. Limited by a custom Single Sign-On (SSO) solution built in-house, Stern's IT organization wanted to enable roles-based access and SSO across all of the school's applications - among them Citrix, Zimbra (News - Alert) and Blackboard. They also wanted to outsource collaboration and email, as well as build a next-generation portal and SSO process that could easily connect all of the school's current applications and scale easily with applications and processes over time.

Stern's IT team chose Socialtext for its portal, providing the school with SaaS (News - Alert)-based wiki, microblogging and other collaboration capabilities that connect with the school's enterprise services. They chose PingFederate for secure, seamless SSO access across all student and staff applications.

"PingFederate could easily integrate with the legacy, current and future apps that we had in mind, and our growth vision will not be bottle-necked by it," Padmanabhan said. "It was very secure - a critical piece for us. And Ping Identity's proof of concept sealed the deal."

Used by hundreds of customers worldwide, including more than 30 of the Fortune 100, and more than 100 SaaS vendors in Ping Identity's SaaS Partner Program, PingFederate delivers Internet SSO and Internet User Account Management that helps increase SaaS user adoption and productivity, saves administrative time and cost, and strengthens security. PingFederate boasts a 98 percent satisfaction rate among users, and 66 percent say they completed their first implementation in two weeks or less. 98 percent of Ping's SaaS partners recommend PingFederate to companies in need of Single Sign-On for their SaaS applications and 35 percent say implementing PingFederate has accelerated their time-to-revenue by reducing custom coding and integration times.

"Ping Identity understands the importance of collaboration and connection within educational institutions," said Ping Identity CEO Andre Durand. "We believe that Cloud-based solutions like those from Socialtext are the way of the future for universities. Ping has dedicated almost a decade to building a trusted, scalable SSO solution to secure these types of environments. It's satisfying to see it paying off with the future business leaders of America."
