JU Aviation Students Train Using Aerosim Technology

(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 16 -- Jacksonville University issued the following news release: Jacksonville University's Division of Aeronautics in the Davis College of Business (DCOB) is proud to announce that its partner, the Delta Connection Academy is now part of the Aerosim family of companies. The Academy will now be known as Aerosim Flight Academy. Delta Air Lines has retained partial ownership of the Academy.

Headquartered in Burnsville, Minn., Aerosim provides low cost, hi-fidelity simulation software training products within the air transport market and has over 16 years of experience working with over 100 airlines around the world. It provides a complete family of pilot and maintenance technician training tools for distance learning, ground school and flight training. These training devices are both portable and flexible and have been applied in classroom and computer lab environments, and on distance learning platforms.

"This is fantastic news for our aviation students," said Dr. Juan Merkt, director of aeronautics. "The Academy, operates a fleet of more than 96 technically advanced aircraft and training devices, including its fleet of 33 new Cirrus SR-20 G2 aircraft. The Academy's merger with Aerosim will bring state-of-the-art technology which will help to better train our students, providing true free-play and structured learning capabilities in a fully active, high-fidelity simulation environment." "With this new technology integrated into our programs, we will have an even broader appeal both nationally and internationally which fits our program goals for recruiting and career placement," said Dr. Joseph McCann, dean of the DCOB. "The name has changed on what remains the same strong and positive partnership." The former Delta Connection Academy is among the leading aviation schools and has trained students from 90 different countries and placed pilots with more than 50 airlines. The Academy is a fast track program with a focus on sending graduates to the airlines. Every aspect of the program has been structured to emulate the airline training. The Academy is the only flight school that participates in ASAP (Aviation Safety Action Program) which is a voluntary reporting of safety issues in partnership with the FAA. Upon successful completion of the program, qualified graduates are guaranteed an interview with a regional carrier.
