HP seen to win unconditional EC nod to buy 3Com

(M&A Navigator Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Hewlett-Packard (NYSE:HPQ) is expected to get unconditional approval by the European Commission to buy networking equipment maker 3Com Corp (NASDAQ:COMS) since the deal is not seen to harm competition, Reuters said Wednesday citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

In November last year, the US PC maker agreed to take over 3Com for USD3bn (EUR2.2bn) in a move to boost its product portfolio and the sales in China as well as to improve competitiveness.

The EU's competition watchdog is scheduled to announce its decision until Friday.
