Novomed makes anti-flu mask for kids

(M2 Europharma Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) 24 August 2009 - French disposable medical equipment maker Novomed has designed a range of protection masks against the H1N1 flu virus for children.

The producer targets customers such as amusement parks, children's associations and state institutions.

The new range is offered in two sizes -- one for under-five-year-olds and one for kids aged from six to 12. The French company is in talks for the sale of more than 100 million such masks to the state.

Novomed's masks for adults are already sold to hospitals, private clinics and large companies, such as bank Societe Generale (EPA: GLE), utility EDF (EPA: EDF) and construction and telecoms group Bouygues (EPA: EN). Novomed also distributes its masks to chemists and large retailers.

Orders for such protection equipment have sharply increased and, in order to meet demand, the company will open a production unit in China in the next few months.

Novomed has posted a revenue of some EUR24m (USD34.4m) for 2008.
