BAKRIE TELECOM TO BUILD LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE NETWORK
JAKARTA - Fixed wireless
telecommunications operator PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk (BTEL)
(JSX:BTEL) is allocating US$200 million worth of capital
expenditures for developing infrastructure for a long distance
telephone network (SLJJ) in Indonesia after securing a license
for it.
"Some of the capital expenditures are allocated for SLJJ,"
BTEL president director Anindya N Bakrie said in a written
statement here on Tuesday.
NIHON ENTERPRISE TO OFFER MOBILE GAMES IN INDIA
TOKYO - Mobile content provider Nihon
Enterprise Co. (TSE:4829) will step up Asian operations,
launching a service to distribute video games through an Indian
cell phone service provider.
Nihon Enterprise will team with Indian content distributor
Astute Systems Technology to offer video games to Tata
Teleservices Ltd. customers. The Japanese firm expects to
expand the service to users of other mobile service firms by
next May.
JAPANESE GOVT TO ORDER NTT TO END MISLEADING ADS
TOKYO - The Ministry of Internal Affairs
and Communications will order Nippon Telegraph and Telephone
Corp.'s (9432) regional operating units to pull misleading
advertisements for their fiber-optic telecommunications
services.
The ministry deemed that some ads by NTT East Corp. and NTT
West Corp. gave the impression that they handle both
fiber-optic and digital television services when in fact the
digital TV service is provided by a subsidiary of Sky Perfect
JSAT Corp. (TSE:9412).
JAPANESE CO KONAMI TO RELEASE GAMES FOR IPHONE
TOKYO - Konami Digital Entertainment Co.

on Wednesday will begin distributing games for Apple Inc.'s
iPhone mobile phone.
The games will capitalize on the iPhone's touch panel and
tilt sensor, and will be distributed in Japan, Europe and the
U.S.
INDIA SET TO UNVEIL MOBILE VIRTUAL NETWORK POLICY
NEW DELHI - The Indian government expects
to unveil its mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) policy by
January 5, when the auction of the 3G spectrum commences.
Addressing the pre-bid conference for the auction of 3G and
BWA spectrum, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Joint
Secretary J S Deepak said: "We are hoping to come out with the
policy on MVNO before the end of January 5, which is the
deadline for (the) application of 3G spectrum."
SAMSUNG ORDERED TO PAY US$7.3MLN FOR CHINA PATENT INFRINGEMENT
HANGZHOU - Samsung Electronics Co.
(KSE:005930) of the Republic of Korea has been ordered to pay
50 million yuan (US$7.3 million) to a company in east China's
Zhejiang Province for infringing the latter's dual-mode cell
phone patent.
The rule was made by the Intermediate People's Court of
Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Provinces on Saturday.
INDONESIA'S TELECO OPERATORS FORECAST TO SPEND US$8.7BLN IN 09
JAKARTA - Indonesian telecommunications
operators are forecast to spend Rp87.2 trillion (US$8.7
billion) next year.
The country's largest telecommunications company PT Telkom
(JSX:TLKM), alone plans to spend up to Rp24 trillion, its
President Rinaldi Firmansyah said.
