NEVERDIE Studios Presents "The Queen of Sheba"; International Siren Cheri London Crosses Virtual World Divide Into Hollywood
(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LOS ANGELES, CA, September 30 / MARKET WIRE/ --
NEVERDIE Studios presents " The Queen of Sheba," an
extravagant cyber-inspired, cabaret-style concert premiering at King King
in Hollywood every Sunday for five weeks starting on October 12, 2008.
Starring Virtual Reality's best-known diva Cheri London, known to legions
of fans as the Queen of Sheba, the performer and songwriter got her start
providing backing vocals and writing songs for Timbaland and Missy Elliot.
The 90-minute show was written by London and Jon "NEVERDIE" Jacobs, with
the assistance of Mark Governor (Shame). Jacobs, a filmmaker and "Internet
icon" according to AP, is the creator of Club NEVERDIE, the #1 Virtual Night
Club in the world, and arguably one of the most famous gamers on the
planet. He helped launch London's virtual career and now presents her Real
World coming out party. For more information please visit
www.myspace.com/queenofshebashow.
"The Queen of Sheba" opens with a preview performance on Sunday, October 5,
2008. The official engagement runs for five consecutive Sundays starting
on October 12th and running through November 9, 2008. Doors open and
pre-show begins at 7:00pm. Guests 21-and-over welcome. King King
Hollywood is located at 6255 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028.
Tickets are $25, available in advance through the club by calling
323-960-9234 or visiting http://www.kingkinghollywood.com.
"The Queen of Sheba" tells the story of a talented singer's struggle with
her abusive father whose only solace is her online friendships with avatars
in the virtual world. With her vivid imagination and the help of her
virtual friends she is able to overcome his violent oppression to become a
virtual (and real) pop sensation at Club NEVERDIE.
The live show features stunningly sensual cabaret vignettes choreographed
by Vai Au-Harehoe and Rodrigo Guzmanan who have worked with such stars as
Chris Brown, Usher, and Justin Timberlake. The virtual dance sequences
performed by some of Club NEVERDIE's hottest Go Go dancers will be
participating "live" on screens around the venue via the Internet by actual
women across the globe. LA-based fashion Icon Merlin Castell, who shakes
up the Janice Dickinson Model Agency this month on Oxygen, is the
mastermind behind the Queen of Sheba's real world style, which promises to
make the experience as eye catching as it is mind blowing. The show's
production designer is Barcelona-based Chu Uroz, 2008 recipient of Opera's
highest honor for costumes and sets.
As much a singer-songwriter as a performer, Cheri London works in
collaboration with some of today's hottest talent on the global pop, urban,
and electronic music scenes. For this project London co-wrote and sings on
every track including the Paul Inder-produced NEVERDIE theme song with
Danny O' Donaghue, the lead singer of The Script (whose debut album
reached #1 in the UK and Ireland the week it came out 08/08/08). The three
also created Sheba's "Bee 2 the Honey" song. London also worked with
Grammy-nominated producer, composer and DJ Ill Factor on a Sheba song and
the rest of the album was produced by and co-written with producer/artist
Kevin Rudolf, whose hit "Let it Rock" featuring Lil
Wayne is currently exploding on the US charts (currently the most requested
song on LA's airwaves). London is also featured as a songwriter on
Rudolf's highly anticipated album "In The City" due out later this year on
Cash Money/Universal Republic. Last year her songwriting skills came to
the attention of the producers of electronic songbird Roisin Murphy (former
Moloko front woman), where she co-wrote three songs on Murphy's critically
acclaimed second album "Overpowered."
The producer and director of the event is virtual world icon Jon NEVERDIE
Jacobs, legendary avatar and prolific indie actor/filmmaker. Reuters
described him as "a legendary adventurer, celebrity, and fabulously wealthy
entrepreneur in the online world of Entropia." He has become synonymous
with the growing popularity of the leading Real Cash Virtual World platform
Entropia Universe. He made
headlines in 2005 on the BBC News and around the globe when he mortgaged
his house to buy a virtual "Asteroid" for $100,000 USD. Fox News did a
5-part video interview with him titled "Portrait of an Avatar." The Los
Angeles Times described him as "The first Cyber Super Star" and proclaim
him "The Douglas Fairbanks of Virtual Reality." Stuff magazine included
NEVERDIE at #28 on their "Pop Power List" of most powerful people under 30
(he was the only Avatar on the list). He is included in the 2008 Guinness
Book of Records for owning Club NEVERDIE, an asteroid space resort, "the
most expensive virtual object." The resort, which boasts a nightclub,
shopping mall, 1000 apartment complexes, commercial space ship docking,
mega sports stadium, and hunting and mining biodomes, is the highest
grossing privately owned virtual event venue online, and is estimated to be
worth in excess of $1 Million USD if ever placed back on the market.
NEVERDIE has appeared on "60 Minutes," the New York Times, Wired, and
numerous other international and US national media and publications.
King King Hollywood, founded by Mario Melendez and located on Hollywood
Boulevard, is one of the most cutting edge and versatile venues for live
entertainment in Los Angeles. In the last two years it has been host to an
array of critically acclaimed music and dance shows including the acclaimed
cabaret "Les Fleurs de Sense," which has been running for two years. The
rock operas "Taking the Jesus Pill," "Shame" and "Bukowskical," an-award
winning musical based on the life of Charles Bukowski, have all had
successful runs at King King Hollywood.
NEVERDIE Studios is based in Los Angeles. In addition to having recently
produced the latest music video for legendary artist Elvis Presley,
NEVERDIE Studios also produces major virtual sporting and entertainment
events as well as operating Club NEVERDIE the #1 virtual nightclub in the
world. The studio recently signed a deal with rock icon Lemmy and
Motorhead to develop and market Lemmy's Castle and Motorhead Stadium inside
the virtual world of Entropia Universe. Entropia Universe, developed by
Swedish company Mindark AB is The Grand Daddy of All Virtual Worlds with
its GNP of $400 million USD per year, which is estimated to be
significantly greater than the US-based Second Life platform. Entropia
Universe is currently switching over to the award winning CryEngine2
Graphics Engine, which elevates the virtual experience to cinematic
quality. NEVERDIE Studios is also consulting with major media entities to
harness Entropia Universe as the premiere real cash virtual platform for
pop culture and entertainment.
