D&E Communications Turns to Aztek Networks to Ensure Community Protection and Maximize NECA Settlements

BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Aztek Networks (http://www.azteknetworks.com/), the leader in telecommunications switch consolidation solutions for network migration, today announced that D&E Communications (http://www.decommunications.com/) is the first customer to select the company's 5000S and 5000SL solutions to maximize its National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA) settlements and help ensure uninterrupted network service. Aztek's products can allow carriers to place switching elements where they once could not: remote huts and cabinets.

Aztek Networks' network migration solutions offer a cost-effective replacement to older remote switches that need to be replaced. The 5000S and 5000SL assure uninterrupted local calling capability and access to 911 emergency services. Aztek's switching solutions specifically are designed to help ensure public safety by continuously maintaining local calling capabilities and subscriber access to emergency 911 services in the event the link to the primary host switch is severed due to an accident or natural disaster.

D&E Communications is an integrated communications provider offering high-speed data, local and long distance telephone, Internet access and video services to subscribers in communities in Central Pennsylvania. D&E is the nineteenth largest telephone company in the United States.

"We looked to Aztek Network's 5000S and 5000SL solutions to increase our voice network reliability in select communities while simultaneously maximizing our NECA settlements," explained Stuart Kirkwood, vice president of Engineering and Construction for D&E Communications. "As an average schedule company, we now are able to receive a higher rate of our return-on-investment by adding ESA switch locations that positively impact our NECA settlements."

Telecom operators are turning to Aztek to ensure their subscribers have the same level of reliability and access to emergency services as subscribers connected to a traditional host or remote switch. By installing Aztek's ESA voice switches average schedule companies can:

-- Immediately increase NECA settle revenues by placing Aztek's voice switch where no prior switch was installed.

-- Realize positive cash flow by leasing the equipment at a cost less than the realized settlement increase.

-- Enhance network reliability and public safety by placing Aztek's switch in locations where there is no emergency switching capabilities.

"With our family of ESA solutions, telecommunications providers are experiencing added network reliability while simultaneously benefiting from additional interstate circuit miles in the average schedule formula resulting in increases in NECA settlements," said Steven Bruny, CEO of Aztek Networks. "The majority of switch remotes in use today simply do not support Broadband Loop Carriers (BLC); for the average schedule company the Aztek solution can dramatically increase NECA settlements."
