(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) CONCORD, ONTARIO, September 9 / MARKET WIRE/ --

SANYO Canada has released the SANYO Xacti HD1010, an eagerly anticipated next generation HD 1080p CameraCorder(TM) to the company's first high-definition, broadcast quality 1080i HD1000.

Second generation improvements include "Face Detection" technology for both video and stills, a slow motion video mode and 7-frames per second (fps) sequential shooting at 4 megapixel resolution.

High resolution product images are available at www.marketwire.com/sanyo.

"This compact and easy-to-use CameraCorder is full of sophisticated features, all housed in a lightweight, easy-to-hold body," says Bryan Asa, General Manager, Digital Imaging, Sanyo Canada. "As in all of our Xacti line, the HD1010 is designed for single hand operation with "one thumb" control of all key functions and can be easily held for extended periods of time without arm fatigue."

Lightweight at 9.9 ounces (280.6 grams), including battery and SD/SDHC card, the HD1010 uses advanced Full HD MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression, enabling about 87 minutes of full high-definition (1920 X 1080) video on an 8GB SDHC memory card (sold separately). Incorporating the latest CMOS sensor, the HD1010 captures four megapixel still images, and sports a 10X optical zoom all-glass HD lens. Loaded with an innovative image stabilizer for both video and stills, the HD1010 is HDMI compatible through its docking station (HDMI cable sold separately) that also easily recharges the battery and uploads video and images.

The SANYO Xacti HD1010 is available in early September, 2008 for an MSRP of $899.99 at Canadian retailers including Centre HiFi, L.L. Lozeau, 2001 Audio Video, Bay Bloor Radio, Brentview Electronics, Henry's, TeleCity Electronics, Advance Electronics, Audio Warehouse, Krazy Kiley's, PA Soundworks, The Camera Place, A&B Sound, NCIX, Best Buy Online and Dell.ca.
