CRIME: Kennewick gets 2-for-1 after tip

(Tri-City Herald (Kennewick, WA) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 21--Kennewick police got their man and a bonus when they followed a tip about an 18-year-old featured Wednesday in a Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers wanted bulletin.

Richard Ralph Hamilton III and Robert Thomas Sainz, 24, both of Kennewick were jailed after Criminal Apprehension Team detectives Sainz's home on East 14th Avenue, Sgt. Brian Swartswalter.

Officers also seized 16 grams of cocaine, 400 grams of marijuana, money and firearms, including an AK-47, he said.

Hamilton was wanted for two theft warrants and was a suspect in a burglary Monday, where a woman sleeping on a couch woke up to find a man stealing her Sony PlayStation 3 video game system, Swartswalter said.

Around 8 p.m., police received a called saying Hamilton was at an apartment complex at 1001 W. Fourth Ave. Detectives spotted Hamilton, who initially tried to run away, but then stopped and was arrested, Swartswalter said.

Detectives also were told the PlayStation was at Sainz's home. When they searched the home, they found the cocaine, marijuana, scales, baggies, weights, a ledger, undisclosed amount of money and guns.

Sainz was booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of possessing cocaine and marijuana with intent to deliver and possessing stolen property.

Hamilton was jailed on two theft of a firearms warrants and suspicion of residential burglary. He is also a suspect in another recent burglary in Kennewick.
