TMCNet: CA Selected by TM Forum

[May 24, 2008]

CA Selected by TM Forum

(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
CA announced it was selected by TM Forum's Catalyst Program's Managed
Syndicated Services Project to offer integrated IT management software
solutions that enable service providers to proactively manage service
quality.

The company said that service providers are using CA's solutions for
network fault, network performance, application performance and service
level management to expedite and assure delivery of next generation
services.

As competition increases among service providers, including traditional
telecommunications carriers, cable operators, and Internet Service
Providers, the need to rapidly develop and deliver new value-added
services is paramount. By creating service delivery ecosystems, or
syndicates, carriers are accelerating time to market for "Telco 2.0"
services. Through support and demonstration of a common industry
framework and reference architecture, the Service Delivery Framework
(SDF) defined by members of the Catalyst program, which include CA,
Telefonica, Microsoft, Accenture, Netcracker, Tribold, and Iptiva, is
playing an active and important role in assuring the successful
delivery of these new services.

"As we enter new markets and offer new services, we recognize that we
can accelerate our time to market if we don't build everything from
scratch," said Sagrario Alem n, Telefonica's technological expert on
systems evolution and new channels. "The Catalyst program gives us a
useful set of guidelines to follow to create syndicated services,
helping us reduce service operations cost, mitigate risk and ensure
higher customer satisfaction. With service quality a key to customer
retention, this framework will be critical to the future of our
industry."

"The Catalyst program is TM Forum's living lab. It enables service
providers, system integrators, and vendors to work together to solve
common, critical industry challenges," said Kenneth A. Dilbeck, head of
the TM Forum Collaboration Program. "The program provides an
opportunity for multi-company, multi-national teams to work together
with emerging technologies and capabilities to solve some of the most

pressing operational and interoperability issues. CA's participation is
important as they bring many years of experience helping many service
providers worldwide manage their services and networks."

CA's role in the Catalyst program is focused on helping service
providers assure service quality whether services are supported by
their own IT and network infrastructure or on-boarded from 3rd party
providers. The company's CA Network & Voice Management, CA Wily
Application Performance Management and CA Service Level Management
capability solutions help meet expected product and customer service
level agreements (SLAs) by monitoring the availability and performance
of all components on the service delivery path.

"Market forces and competitive pressures are driving service providers
to innovate at a staggering pace. They must deliver new services faster
to a broadening array of customers, while being tasked to leverage
existing infrastructure," said Norman Rice, vice president and general
manager of CA's Industry Programs. "Syndication enables service
providers to deliver on-demand services to customers without having to
own the infrastructure. As a result, syndicated providers are agile and
dynamic enough to make 'Telco 2.0' a reality."
