Digital Defense Appoints Vice President of Platform Development and Vulnerability Research

SAN ANTONIO --(Business Wire)-- Digital Defense, Inc. (DDI), a provider of information security assessment services and Software as a Service (SaaS) security compliance solutions, today announced the appointment of Gordon MacKay as Vice President of Platform Development and Vulnerability Research. MacKay will continue to be responsible for strategic planning and the establishment of DDI's solution roadmaps. He will also maintain his responsibility for DDI's proprietary SaaS security information management and assessment solution architectures, designs, development initiatives, and sustaining activities. Additionally, he will oversee DDI's Vulnerability Research organization which is responsible for identifying previously unknown security vulnerabilities as well as keeping the company's SaaS vulnerability management solutions current with automated tests for known security vulnerabilities.

As a seasoned executive, MacKay brings more than 17 years of solutions experience and subject matter expertise to Digital Defense. Joining Digital Defense in November 2002, he spearheaded the company's development of the Frontline 3.0 security information portal and its underlying Service Oriented Architecture platform - the Digital Defense Network Security Awareness System - leading development of all related architecture and design to ensure the solution's successful implementation and deployment.

"We are pleased to increase the scope of Gordon's responsibilities to include vulnerability research," said Larry R. Hurtado, president and CEO of Digital Defense. "He has demonstrated his expertise as Vice President of Platform Development and this new role is a natural expansion of his responsibilities and abilities. We continue to increase our investment in the evolution of our platform technology and in our vulnerability research, disclosure, and sustaining efforts. As we continue to enhance our security offerings and optimize current solutions, Gordon will be instrumental in maintaining Digital Defense's position as an industry leader in both of these areas."

Prior to joining Digital Defense, MacKay held several research and development leadership positions at Alcatel USA in which he designed numerous platform and telecommunications features, including his role as team lead in the inception and design of a real time in-memory database for the Alcatel Softswitch. Before Alcatel USA, MacKay served as a systems engineer at Nortel Networks in Ottawa, Canada, where he designed Interactive Voice Response systems and contributed towards platform features.

"I am very excited about my new opportunity to help Digital Defense maintain and enhance its market leadership position by bridging our platform development and vulnerability research efforts," said MacKay. "As a company, we want to ensure that our technology supports our goal of providing high value, state-of-the-art security compliance solutions to our clients. To that end, we will continue to evolve our technology and our organizational structures to ensure that our clients receive the highest quality information security assessment services available in the marketplace."

Gordon holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
