Sterling Commerce's GIS implemented by Crowley Maritime
(Telecomworldwire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
The Gentran Integration Suite (GIS) from Sterling Commerce a subsidiary
of AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), has been successfully implemented by Crowley
Maritime Corporation (Crowley), a provider of diversified
transportation, logistics and emergency response services, as its
business-to-business (B2B) integration platform.
Sterling Commerce said Crowley can now use its solutions to build,
deploy and managed B2B solutions more quickly and easily across diverse
business partner communities.
According to Crowley, the GIS has enabled it to establish a direct
connection with US Customs, removing reliance and failure points with
outside entities and ensuring a smoother transportation process. It has
also been able to improve its connection points with partners,
providing increased visibility into its trading partners, while
improving document tracking.
Sterling Commerce's GIS has also allowed Crowley to reduce operating
costs across the board and eliminate mainframe dependence, improve
flexibility to meet individual customer communication requirements and
tie together applications, processes, data and people. It has enabled
Crowley to increase processing reliability, responsiveness to customer
issues and self-service capabilities, improving customer satisfaction;
retain a higher number of customers and boost new customer wins through
improved service offerings and flexibility; and take on-board new
partners and documents faster and more efficiently.
