Padiham Girl To Wed Soap Star

(Burnley Express Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)A POPULAR Padiham lass is set to marry a TV soap heart-throb after a whirlwind romance.

Padiham's Miss Lisa-Marie Flynn said "yes'' to actor Dale Meeks, who plays popular binman Simon Meredith in ITV's Emmerdale, when he proposed to her on Valentine's Day, just five months after they met.

But the pretty blonde had to say "yes" by text message after the romantic actor turned up on the doorstep of her Collinge Street home to go down on one knee.... and she was out at work! The couple became officially engaged last weekend at a lavish party in Leeds where dozens of Lisa-Marie's friends and family toasted them with cast members from the soap. Lisa-Marie is now sporting a dazzling Princess cut platinum engagement ring set with diamonds and pink sapphires.

Youth worker Lisa-Marie (22), who works at Padiham Youth Club and is set to graduate from Lancaster University with a degree in youth and community work, said: "Dale turned up with flowers, balloons and champagne and my mum, Lynn, was texting me like mad to come home but by the time I arrived there Dale had to go back to Leeds for filming so I missed him. He had written his proposal inside a card with the flowers and I couldn't believe my eyes at first but I said 'yes' right away but had to do it by text.'' Romance blossomed for the couple after they met at Pontin's holiday complex in Blackpool in October last year. Dale was on the judging panel for the finals of a singing competition that Lisa-Marie's friend was competing in.

Lisa-Marie, who attended Padiham's St John's RC Primary School and St Hilda's RC High, Burnley, said: "Dale is much better looking in real life than he is on television!'' When Dale, who is 31, asked for her phone number Lisa-Marie did not hesitate to hand it over but disaster struck the following day when she lost her mobile!
