Summer dining on Ponsonby Road in Auckland could be under threat from clamp down on licences

(IRN News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)Summer dining on Ponsonby Road could be under threat from a clamp down on licenses.

Auckland City Council is reminding cafe owners to check their outdoor dining licences after complaints about pedestrian access on footpaths.

Services Request Manager Jackie Wilkinson says a handful of cafes are breaking the rules and causing problems.

Cafes must ensure there are two metres of clear space on the footpath.

Ms Wilkinson says tables placed close to the kerb pose a safety risk to diners and pedestrians.
