(SinoCast Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)QINGDAO, Jan 25, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) --Four digital TV operators simultaneously started offering services in Qingdao City of eastern China's Shandong Province on January 18.

The four digital TV service providers are China Central Digital Television Media (CDM), the DTV subsidiary under CCTV, TOPV, CHC and SiTV under Shanghai Media Group (SMG).

They started broadcasting 60 professional digital channels for local citizens on that day.

Qingdao, the first Chinese city that has finished converting from analog to digital, currently has more than 600,000 digital TV subscribers, coming atop other nationwide cities in terms of cable TV users.

In the future, the local DTV network will also provide online shopping, banking, mobile messages to handsets, and payment of power, water and gas accounts through TV sets, according to sources.
