Kagan Research Projects Cable Will Double Total Revenues from $66.5 bil. in 2005 to $139 bil. by 2015

MONTEREY, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- July 22, 2005 -- It's an intensely competitive era for cable, but according to Kagan analyst Renee Shaening, the sector is better equipped than ever to combat the competition. "Cable's ability to pack its broadband pipe with a host of compelling services will enable the industry to better than double overall revenue from $66.5 bil. to $139 bil. by 2015," said Shaening.

In the most recent issue of CABLE TV INVESTOR: DEALS & FINANCE, Kagan projects cable TV will lift subscriber intake from $80/month in 2005 to past the $100 mark as early as 2008 -- shown in the accompanying bar chart -- as customers subscribe to more and more services.

Cable's voice segment is finally gaining traction thanks to expansive IP voice deployments. And by 2015, after growing an explosive 18%, compounded annually, voice subs are projected to reach 29 mil., generating $11.7 bil. in revenue.

Including commercial revenue -- another nascent segment with enormous growth potential -- overall industry revenue is expected to grow at a 10.5% CAGR over the next five years.

Detailed 10-year projections for subs, revenue and tier comparisons are presented in the latest issue of CABLE TV INVESTOR: DEALS & FINANCE. A monthly publication, the newsletter provides regular updates and actionable information on industry data, deals and valuation metrics.

In-depth coverage of the cable industry is also available in the new and expanded BROADBAND CABLE FINANCIAL DATABOOK 2005, Kagan's 25th annual industry assessment. This annual compendium delivers the key statistics and financial summaries -- past, present and future -- of hundreds of cable operators, technology suppliers and financial sources for the broadband cable TV industry. The databook includes 79 tables and 50 charts, plus seven in-depth directory sections featuring the industry's foremost collection of profiles, resources and hard-to-find contact information.
