GlobeTel Announces Article About Stratellite in The Economist Magazine

MIAMI --(Business Wire)-- Dec. 15, 2004 -- GlobeTel Communications Corp. (OTCBB:GTEL) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sanswire Networks, LLC (Sanswire), was featured in the December 4, 2004 issue of the The Economist Magazine.

The article reported that Sanswire will be launching the prototype of its high altitude platform, the Stratellite, and went on to highlight the significant advantages the Stratellite has over the current satellite technology.

The article was sub-titled, "Telecommunications: After years of hype, a new, cheaper way to blanket cities with wireless coverage may finally be about to get off the ground," may be accessed through the following link: http://www.economist.com/science/tq/displayStory.cfm?story_id=3423026.

Timothy Huff, CEO of GTEL, stated, "We are receiving increased interests in our Stratellite project on a daily basis. As we previously announced, we are having a summit on January 20 and 21, 2005 to create a commercial strategy for the deployment of the Stratellite. We expect to meet with representatives from different branches of the U.S. military, several Latin American telecommunications companies, our Israeli and German technology partners, several corporate concerns and investor groups. This article in The Economist underlines that many are starting to see the great potential of the Stratellite."

A Stratellite is similar to a satellite, but is stationed in the stratosphere rather than in orbit. At an altitude of 10 to 13 miles above the earth, each Stratellite will have clear line-of-site communications capability to an entire major metropolitan area as well as being able to provide coverage across major rural areas. Several Stratellites linked together could cover many hundreds of thousands of square miles. The Stratellite will allow subscribers to easily communicate in "both directions" using readily available wireless devices. In addition to voice and data, proposed telecommunications uses include cellular, 3G/4G mobile, MMDS, paging, fixed wireless telephony, HDTV, real-time surveillance and others.
