Wipro, Oracle Launch Oracle Application for Retail Sector

Wipro Technologies and Oracle have reportedly launched the Oracle (News - Alert) Application Integration Architecture Process Integration Pack for the retail industry. The Oracle AIA PIP offers customers a pre-configured, supportable and upgradeable integration of the retail merchandising execution applications with the financial operation control applications.

Oracle AIA provides an open, standards-based approach for organizations to integrate end-to-end business processes across a range of custom, Oracle or third-party applications. The Oracle AIA PIPs are pre-built composite business processes across enterprise Applications that allow companies to get up and running with core processes quickly. The Oracle AIA PIP integrates Oracle Retail Merchandise Operations Management and the Oracle E-Business Suite Financials using Oracle AIA. It addresses financial operation control processes for retail merchandising system such as inventory valuation, revenue recognition and merchandising procure to pay.

According to Duncan Angove, general manager and senior vice president of Oracle Retail, the Oracle Financial Operations Control Integration Pack for Oracle Retail Merchandise Operations Management and E-Business Suite Financials will offer retail customers and partners new opportunities to maximize the value of their Oracle investments. The solution will also make it easier for retailers to take advantage of opportunities for short-term value creation within their businesses.

Duncan said that Oracle has been successful in co-developing pre-built, best practice integration products for the retail industry with Wipro’s (News - Alert) expertise in industry specific business processes in collaboration with Oracle’s market leading solutions.

The Oracle AIA Process Integration Pack development is driven by the master services agreement signed with Wipro in 2009. In fact, Wipro is one of the first partners to sign such an agreement with Oracle wherein end-to-end industry process solutions across the industries of communication, retail, consumer products, hi-tech and industrial manufacturing would be developed. This integration pack is part of a strategy to provide a comprehensive solution footprint for the retail industry based on Oracle’s best of breed applications using Oracle Application Integration Architecture.

According to Langbert Walker, global head Oracle practice, Wipro Technologies (News - Alert), the co-development initiative is in line with Wipro’s strategy to invest in Oracle technology to provide industry specific solutions. The PIP has been developed keeping in mind the industry requirement to have an integrated solution across retail operations and financial back office accounting. Wipro Technologies, the first PCMM Level 5 and SEI CMM Level 5 certified global IT services organization, provides comprehensive research and development services, IT solutions and services to corporations around the world.
