July 01, 2009

CIBER, Inc., a global provider of information technology (IT) services, reportedly has been awarded a 20-month contract with Ohio University located in Athens, Ohio.

CIBER officials said in a release that ERP Higher Education Practice and Global Enterprise Integration Practice (GEIP) are working with Ohio University to create a new student information system (SIS).

Officials said this is the largest and most complex project upon which Ohio University's Office of Information Technology has ever embarked. The University is expected to realize a significant return on investment from this technology once the project is completed.

Ohio University is a large research university with more than 28,000 students spread over six campuses.

Officials said that with the help of this collaboration with CIBER, the University is replacing its existing SIS with the full intention of improving the delivery of services to its students, faculty and staff through workflow, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web-enabled services.

"Ohio University is partnering with CIBER to significantly change how technology aids in the delivery of services to students and faculty. CIBER's expertise with complex Higher Education projects made them well equipped to assist us with this extensive transformation," said Brice Bible, chief information officer of Ohio University, in the release.

Giving details of the project, company officials said it includes the implementation of the latest Oracle PeopleSoft campus solutions system, data privacy shield and an extensive SOA component and integration build on Red Lantern (DARS), CRM, and the rollout of an identity management solution.

"CIBER's ERP practice is honored to collaborate with Ohio University on this extensive project. Our expertise in the higher education industry will ensure the University improves their service delivery and experiences a substantial return on their investment," said Mike Dillon, Senior Vice President of CIBER's Higher Education Practice.

Khalid Mansour, vice president of CIBER's global enterprise integration practice, said that the company’s expertise in service oriented architecture, information management, and integration, coupled with the proficiency of CIBER's ERP Practice, will showcase CIBER's offering depth and will greatly enhance Ohio University's information technology capabilities.

CIBER, a Certified Advantage Partner in the Oracle PartnerNetwork, is a major player in the U.S. and Canadian Oracle and PeopleSoft higher education markets, having implemented Oracle and PeopleSoft Enterprise applications at more than 175 institutions in the United States and Canada.
