OpSource Partnering with Japan's Bplats to Capitalize on SaaS Industry Growth

Web applications vendor OpSource has announced that it entered into a partnership with Japan’s Software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) consulting company Bplats Inc to capitalize on SaaS industry growth in the world’s second largest economy.

Under the agreement, Bplats and OpSource will work together on joint sales and marketing opportunities as well as on specific customer implementations.

"We are honored to be one of the strategic partners of OpSource, an innovative leader in the SaaS marketplace worldwide," said Bplats CEO Kenji Fujita. "We are confident that the SaaS market in Japan will mature faster with us jointly introducing OpSource's solutions."

Santa Clara, Calif-based OpSource offers technologies to enable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and helps companies to deliver their applications and services securely over the Web.

OpSource, Inc. recently partnered with NTT (News - Alert) Europe Online to reach out to businesses looking to deliver on-demand applications and services via the Internet in Europe. The latest deal with the Japanese company is likely to enable the U.S. company to cater to more customers in Asia Pacific region.

By choosing OpSource as an application delivery partner, companies can free themselves from investing in, and managing, the complex and costly infrastructure and services necessary to deliver applications over the Web. They can instead focus their resources on developing, marketing and selling their applications and services.

The two companies’ offerings complement each other because Bplats provides SaaS technical and business consulting, guiding companies choose SaaS to overcome hurdles.

"SaaS solutions are changing the way companies do business and we are excited to bring the power and cost-savings of our SaaS solutions to the Japanese marketplace,” said OpSource CEO Treb Ryan in a release.

In the meantime, the SaaS market appears to be bucking the current negative economic trend. According to a recent report from Gartner (News - Alert), the overall SaaS market will grow by 21.9 percent in 2009 – up from $6.6 billion in 2008 to $9.6 billion in 2009.
