Kyocera Wireless 300 and 1xD Modules Get Aeris Network Certification

February 02, 2009

The Kyocera 300 and Kyocera 1xD modules have received Aeris network certification.

The Kyocera 300 and Kyocera 1xD modules have been approved and optimized to operate on the Aeris CDMA wireless network across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The system integrators are often troubled by the lack of proper testing equipments or advanced engineering fixes when testing the solutions that are to be introduced in the market. This not only lengthens the time taken by the products to reach the market, it also increases the costs involved in bringing a product to the market.

Since the new Kyocera modules have been stringently tested for quality and performance, developers can now shorten their time to market and lower the costs. Facilitating automated remote device management services, the new modules utilize exclusive Aeris features to streamline development and improve design intelligence.

“Kyocera is well known in the development community for delivering the highest- quality CDMA modules with advanced feature sets for M2M developers, ensuring a faster time to market," said Chris Purpura, vice president of marketing at Aeris. "By integrating and optimizing the radio firmware with our network based device management, together we can deliver the lowest cost of operations in the industry.”

Combining the latest Qualcomm chipsets with digital voice and packet data communications, the Kyocera 300 Module builds off the award-winning Kyocera 200 Module. It provides features such as integrated intelligent multi-mode GPS capability, a streamlined form factor and extended operating temperatures. Designed for data-only M2M telemetry applications, the low-cost Kyocera 1xD Module needs only a small and rugged form factor.

In December last year, Aeris entered into a partnership with American Trash Management (ATM) in which ATM's Wireless SmartTrash System is certified on the Aeris network. Aeris stated that the SmartTrash System time-stamps, records and analyzes activity on trash compactors and wirelessly transmits vital data such as energy utilization, directional valve shifts, safety door switches and unit logistics to the ATM data center.
