Carrefour Selects Teradata for Supporting its Analytical Business Intelligence
By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet ContributorTeradata (News - Alert) Corporation, a data warehousing and enterprise analytics firm, says Carrefour has selected Teradata for supporting its analytical business intelligence for marketing. The system will include software and hardware which will be supported by Teradata professional services. Carrefour, based in France is the second largest international retailer in the world.
The new intelligence platform will help Carrefour in conducting extensive analysis of data concerned with customer shopping history and preferences besides on customer communications management. This is expected to enable Carrefour to provide a complete and effective customer service to millions of its customers in France.
These platforms help streamline businesses and the company’s budget by replacing legacy systems which require multiple hardware platforms and databases for special business unit, departmental or geographical needs. They are capable of replacing existing single-purpose analytical systems which serve compliance, privacy, fraud detection and prevention, customer segmentation, human resources and forecasting concerns.
“Carrefour is taking a dramatic step forward in consolidating their data infrastructure to better compete on analytics and get quick, precise answers to complex business questions,” said Eric Joulié, president of Teradata France.
“Having the best answer to any business question, any time, is a priceless economic advantage to companies that know how to create and leverage analytical intelligence,” added Joulié.
Teradata caters to the retail industry and it enables companies to modernize and integrate critical information in enterprise data warehouses. Teradata’s offerings in the retail business helps several organizations like Ace Hardware, American Eagle Outfitters, Cabela’s, COOP Norden, Cortefiel, Limited Brands, JC Penney, Hallmark, hhgregg, Hudson’s Bay Company and Isetan.
It also serves large hypermarket retailers and fashion department store chains in North America and other parts of the world. Its customers also include Lowe’s, Macy’s, Migros Switzerland, Overstock.com, Radio Shack, Tesco Stores and Timberland. Teradata finds presence in 60 countries worldwide and is focused on raising intelligence through data warehousing, consulting services and enterprise analytics.
Carrefour is preferred by millions of customers in Europe, Asia and Latin America. It employs an innovative strategy maintaining a network of hypermarkets, supermarkets, hard discount stores, convenience stores and cash-and-carry outlets.
