New California Contact Center Will Help with Insurance Enrollment Wait Times

October 03, 2014

The recession of 2008 was especially hard on contact centers in the United States. However, with the economy recovering, one of the markets seeing the biggest bounce back is contact centers.

Trends in the market are showing that contact centers are coming back to the United States in record numbers. While there are several different regions in the US taking advantage of this trend, the West Coast is getting in on the action in a big way. The Sacramento Bee reports more than 500 new employees are being sought for a Sacramento contact center run by InSync consulting and staffing.

The company says the employees will only be temporary, but considering Sacramento was hit rather hard by the dip in jobs for contact center workers, any work now is being welcomed.  “It’s good news for the local economy. … We need to get probably 550 people hired and trained,” Tim Coxen, president of InSync Consulting Services LLC told the paper. “It’s not a 24-hour center, but we need to have day and evening shifts covered.”

Coxen said the contact center is slated to start operations on October 27 with full and part time jobs. The new site, which will have the temporary workers is slated to help with “peak call volume.” Those calling in will be looking for help with signing up for 2015 health care coverage through Covered California. Covered California is the state’s health insurance exchange. The open enrollment period starts on November 15 and runs through February 15.

Last year, the first year people could enroll in this coverage, more than 1.4 million people signed up. That volume of callers led to long wait times and massive frustration. Covered California spokesman James Scullary said he agreed with the hiring of the temporary contact center workers because it will alleviate wait time issues.
