Interactive Intelligence Announces Indiana Expansion Plans

May 01, 2014

Indicative of its continued growth and emergence as a leader in the customer experience solutions market, Indianapolis, IN-based Interactive Intelligence Group, announced plans to add more than 300 jobs in Indiana by the end of 2014.

The growth follows the addition of more than 170 Indiana-based employees last year, for a total statewide headcount of nearly 1,000 as of Dec. 31, 2013. The company grew worldwide jobs last year by 25 percent, with a current worldwide headcount of more than 1,900 employees. Plus, the company generated $92.7 million in total 2013 Indiana payroll compensation.

In addition, and again a reflection of the momentum Interactive Intelligence has in global markets, the company also revealed it is in negotiations to lease a new 112,000 square-foot building at its North-side Indianapolis campus, with an anticipated occupancy date of the third quarter of 2015.

"Our business is growing by all measures," said Interactive Intelligence founder and CEO Dr. Donald Brown. "Our Indiana job growth of 23 percent last year topped the previous year's healthy rate of 18 percent. Our planned job additions would result in more than 1,300 Indiana employees by the end of 2014.

"The tech sector is a critically important part of the state's growth and future success. With our cloud business growing at an exceptional rate, an increasing number of large customer deals, and exciting new products in the pipeline, we anticipate continued expansion with an even greater positive impact on the Indiana economy," Brown said.

Last year Interactive Intelligence expanded its North-side Indianapolis campus, which now occupies nearly 300,000 square feet spanning four buildings.

To say the least, Indiana Governor Mike Pence is delighted by Interactive Intelligence’s employment and physical expansion plans. "Hoosiers are driving the future of technology, with a tech community that's strong and fueled by impressive homegrown success stories like that of Interactive Intelligence's," said Governor Pence. "In Indiana, high-tech companies gain an advantage over their competition with a business climate that is affordable and a talented workforce at their fingertips. We've built Indiana into a state that works, designed to poise companies for days like today, where the future is bright with opportunity."

Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard  noted that, "Companies like Interactive Intelligence that offer high-tech job opportunities help us attract and retain talented people in Indy…Interactive Intelligence's phenomenal growth sends a powerful message to people seeking jobs in the tech field and other similar companies about the strong economy and talent pipeline in Indy."

Interactive Intelligence has received numerous accolades for creating a successful workplace, including most recently the 2014 Indiana Chamber of Commerce Best Places to Work in Indiana award, Mashable's 2014 Seven Best Tech Companies to Work For award, and Glassdoor's 2014 Employees' Choice award.

"We compete daily with global companies, some of which are at least ten times our size," Brown said. "Our success shows that you don't need to be in Silicon Valley to be a market leader. Indiana's great universities, low cost of living and excellent quality of life enable us to attract and keep top talent, which is at the heart of our business."

The point about Indianapolis being a great place to live and work is not hyperbole. In fact, a terrific way to validate this yourself is by attending Interactive Intelligence’s annual global conference INTERACTIONS 2014 and the co-located CX Hot Trends Symposium which are taking place the first week in June.
