Lord & Taylor to Add 140 More Call Center Jobs in Wilkes-Barre Twp.

January 20, 2014

Hudson's Bay Company announced that Lord & Taylor, its retailer wing in the United States, will add 140 more jobs for its new call center in Wilkes-Barre Twp.

The addition of these jobs will increase the company’s workforce to about 800, said a report from thetimes-tribune.com, quoting Tiffany Bourre, spokeswoman for Hudson's Bay.

The development comes on the heels of Hudson's Bay’s acquisition of Saks Fifth Avenue in November.  Following the acquisition, Hudson's merged the receiving and processing of merchandise for its Saks Fifth Avenue stores from Aberdeen, Md., into the existing Wilkes-Barre Twp. location.

However, the first announcement about this development was made earlier in 2011 when Gov. Tom Corbett announced that Lord & Taylor would open the call center  and create 122 jobs over three years, paying about $10 an hour.

"With the addition of Saks Fifth Avenue and the tremendous growth of our e-commerce facility, the Wilkes-Barre facility is vital to us meeting customer demand," said Bill Tracy, executive vice president of distribution and logistics for Hudson's, in a statement.

Lord & Taylor has also announced new job opportunities in New York and St. Louis.  There are opportunities in multiple departments for its New York center. Meanwhile St. Louis career opportunities are available in Information Technology Division, located in downtown St. Louis, MO.

In another recent development, Hudson’s Bay and Lord & Taylor announced partnership with True Fit, a big data technology company, to offer True Fit’s patented fit personalization technology to consumers at TheBay.com and LordandTaylor.com.

True Fit provides fit personalization software  to the world’s top retailers and brands, helping customers shop with confidence, eliminating guesswork. In less than 60 seconds, consumers can create a True Fit profile at either site, enabling them to get a personal fit rating and size recommendation for every style.

The partnership will help elevate the retailers’ eCommerce platform by giving their customer more confidence in their purchases at thebay.com and lordandtaylor.com, company officials said.
