Kentrox Intros Communications Management Solution for Enhanced Site Management

September 18, 2013

Kentrox, Inc. recently introduced the communications management solution for enhanced site management, which provides the applications needed to help service providers and tower operators manage their communications network. Kentrox monitors the health of distributed antenna systems (DAS) and microwave equipment across all sites within the network and provides proactive management of potential issues.

The applications include distributed antenna systems management and microwave management.

Officials with Kentrox said that the solution provides many benefits, including proactive management of the DAS and microwave networks, improved network reliability and availability and a gained understanding of entire communications networks.

Each packaged solution includes the information, reports, measurements, network elements, alarms and sensors/controllers that are needed for each application. Optima Live View shows the per site status overview of the specific application’s alarms and KPIs. It provides auto-refresh and single click links to predefined reports, alarms, analysis, and controls.

“Continuous and quality wireless coverage has become expected by wireless subscribers today, and understanding the communications network, without a site visit, is a tower operator and service provider’s challenge,” said Eric Swanson, director of product management at Westell, which acquired Kentrox earlier this year for $30 million.

Swanson said that the communications management solution provides cost-effective and proactive monitoring and management of DAS and microwave systems remotely. The reporting and trending capabilities help maximize site efficiency while improving network reliability and efficiency.

Earlier this year, two of Kentrox’s products – the Remote RMX-3221 and Remote RMM-1421 – were certified for the Verizon Wireless network. Both Remote RMX-3200 and Remote RMM-1421 are built to offer IP management to remote sites and equipment. These products basically work like an intelligent site device for M2M enablement of the entire support infrastructure, providing IP management to remote locations and equipment.
