Microsoft Releases a New Study on Cloud Adaption Trends

July 09, 2013

There is a growing awareness about cloud technologies. Not surprisingly, this awareness is encouraging more companies to try out cloud technologies.

In the last few years or so, the adoption of cloud technology has grown leaps and bounds. As a result of this, the companies that provide cloud technology-based services are making healthy profits. A new survey commissioned by Microsoft and constituency to be performed by IDC, seconds this opinion.

According to the survey, companies that have more than 50 percent of their revenue related to the cloud have experienced various benefits. These advantages include higher gross profit, more new customers, increased revenue per employee and faster overall business growth.

Cloud-oriented partners -- those companies that generate more than half of their total revenues by cloud technologies -- grow their business at double the rates. They also generate 30 percent more revenue as they get new customers faster. The survey also revealed that a majority of customers expect to have a single cloud service provider to meet their needs.

Microsoft partners stand to grow their business by creating or selling cloud solutions on Microsoft cloud technologies. They will easily get the technical and business support they need to get to new levels of profitability.

“IDC's data reveals that businesses prefer to buy end-to-end IT solutions from a single cloud vendor and want to work with a company that they have an established relationship with. With Office 365 now on a $1 billion annual revenue run rate and more than 250,000 customers using Windows Azure, with thousands more added every week, our partners are in a prime position to support this," said Jon Roskill, corporate vice president of the Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft.

Recently, Parallels, a hosting and cloud services enablement provider, introduced support for a Microsoft Azure Pack for Hosting Providers. The company also unveiled updates to a collection of cloud service delivery solutions.
