TD Bank's Renovated Contact Center

In Greeneville, South Carolina, TD Bank’s regional operations hub renovations are coming to a close, so hiring for the firm’s contact center is set to begin. Simon Hong, senior vice president of TD and the head of the Greenville Contact Center, recently gave GSA Business reporter Scott Miller (News - Alert) a tour of the 300,000-square-foot campus.

Miller reported that there are currently 300 contact center employees who have handled about one million calls since August, when they took their first call. When TD Bank opened its lines for calls at the end of the summer, there were only about 65 employees, but that number has grown quickly.

Hong noted that they are currently hiring about 30 new employees each month, but as they get ready to open the doors to their contact center in March, that number has the potential to rise.

The new building has enough space for up to 500 contact center employees.

Hong mentioned that the company is hiring for many different types of positions, not just contact center jobs; “All businesses are hiring,” he told Miller. On job-seeking site GlassDoor, there are other jobs listed, including positions for credit analysts, technology risk compliance leads, and audit supervisors.

There are currently 600 people working at the campus – including the aforementioned 300 contact center employees – with the potential for up to 1,500 hires.

South Carolina’s unemployment rate hit a four-year low in November – 8.3 percent – and with any luck, companies like TD Bank will help that number decline further. For 2013, call centers across the country offer potential for growth, both in terms of jobs and the many financial benefits that they offer businesses.

Those interested in applying should do so by visiting www.tdbank.com/careers. TD Bank anticipates that hiring will last until 2014.
