Moneris Solutions and Semafone Ltd Partner for Secure Contact Center Payment Solution

Toronto-based Moneris Solutions, Canada's largest credit and debit card processor, is announcing a new partnership with Semafone Limited, a U.K.-based company that provides contact center payment security software solutions. Under the terms of the partnership, the two companies plan to deliver Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI (News - Alert) DSS) compliant solutions for contact centers.

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is an information security standard for organizations that handle cardholder information for the major debit, credit, prepaid, e-purse, ATM, and POS cards. The standard, which was defined by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council, was created to increase controls around cardholder data to reduce credit card fraud through data exposure.

The partnership will combine Moneris' PCI Compliant eSelectPlus enterprise payment platform with Semafone's patented technology to provide cardholders with the same confidence and security when completing credit card transactions over the phone that they would experience in traditional retail and e-commerce transactions. 

"Although e-commerce is increasingly popular in the retail sector, merchants and consumers still value the one-on-one customer engagement of contact centers, as demonstrated through consistent transaction volumes in this payment channel," said Jeff Guthrie, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at Moneris, in a statement announcing the partnership.

 "Moneris' partnership with Semafone is a crucial step in providing confidence to consumers that contact center engagement is a safe, secure and trustworthy payment- processing option. We are always looking for solutions that will bring value to our merchants, and this partnership addresses the real issues our customers face in this space."
