Russian Mobile Company Megafon Launches Call Center for Universiade 2013 Games

September 10, 2012

Russian mobile operator Megafon has reportedly opened a new multilingual call center for the managing directorate of the Universiade 2013, which will take place in Kazan, Russia, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, 800 kilometers east of Moscow.

The 2013 Summer Universiade, also known as the XXVII Summer Universiade, was cited in Kazan as it has the biggest student community in the region. The events will open on July 6, 2013 and will close July 13.

The new call center is expected to provide information on the Universiade in the Tatar, Russian and English languages. The services will also be accessible in French beginning around the 20th of September, during events organized by the international students sport federation FISU. The new hotline will provide details on the history of university sports and the World University Games, sports programs, venues and the competition schedule.

The project is aimed in part at helping visitors in the build-up and duration of the Universiade to enjoy their stay in the city, with details of accommodation, hospitals, cafes and restaurants also available through the helpline.

There will be three World University test events taking place in the next month, with the Canoe Sprint Championships next week, the Shooting Championships between September 4 and 9 and the Rowing Championships being held between September 7 and 9. During those competitions, the new call center will be operating from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm.

The games will use 64 venues during the course of the events; 36 of them will be constructed specially for the 2013 Summer Universiade. Forty-four nations, sending approximately 13,000 athletes, are expected to participate.
