Sutherland Global Services Opens Service Delivery Center in Philippines

Sutherland Global Services, a multi-national Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider, has announced the opening of its newest service delivery center located in Camarines Sur, Philippines.

The facility was unveiled by Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of Philippines. Dilip Vellodi, Chairman and CEO, and senior company executives joined the President in a grand inauguration ceremony.

The opening of this new facility marks Sutherland’s fourth Philippines expansion since the company opened its Manila operation in July 2005. Industry analysts report that the Philippines has proven to now be the third largest destination geography for BPO services.

Sutherlands also operates in Clark and Davao City,  Philippines and has delivery centers worldwide in India, U.S., Canada, Eastern Europe and Mexico.

This new facility and its opening was fueled by continued growth in Sutherland’s current outsourcing engagements along with the addition of several new clients and complements the company’s provincial growth model in the Philippines.

Sutherland's Camarines Sur facility went live with 400 associates providing a full range of back office and customer lifecycle management services.

"Sutherland has a successful track record of investing in geographic areas which meet our strategic criteria -- which include access to high quality talent, robust infrastructure and a political and business climate conducive to our business requirements," stated Sutherland Chairman and CEO Dilip Vellodi, in a Wednesday statement.

"Philippines is a strategic component of Sutherland's global service delivery model. Its favorable economic environment, technically skilled workforce and business friendly government policies have all been driving forces in our ability to rapidly scale our operations.”

“The results from our operations in Manila, Clark and Davao have been truly impressive and we look forward to leveraging that success as we continue to expand our presence in the Philippines," Vellodi added.

In 2007, Sutherland more than doubled its headcount in Philippines as the company hired more than 3000 professionals to take its Philippines headcount to over 5600.

Part of Sutherland’s strong growth is due to a recent signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with the Technical Educational Skills & Development Authority (TESDA) of the Philippines. This agreement is targeted towards creating technology and learning centers across numerous Philippine cities.

This agreement helps to identify and groom the talent needed to meet the company’s ongoing expansion plans. This partnership firmly establishes Sutherland's presence in local communities and solidifies its position as an "Employer of Choice" in Philippines.

The Philippines offers a significantly competitive infrastructure, labor pool and cost of operation, making it an appealing location for outsourcing operations. The country has proven to be a formidable competitor in the BPO sector and this latest opening demonstrates its growth.

Sutherland Global Services has found success in the Philippines, which is helping to drive its further expansions. Such reinvestment in the area will help to promote further growth and expand its reach throughout the global industry.
