Telcordia to Participate in Management World 2008 Catalyst Program

May 06, 2008

Telcordia has been chosen by Management World 2008 to participate in its Catalyst Program, an Operational and Business Support Systems (OSS/BSS) proving ground where Communication Service Providers (CSPs), system integrators, and hardware/software vendors can collaborate to solve common, critical industry challenges.

The project, “Delivering an Industry Information Infrastructure” focuses on live demonstrations and is designed to help the telecom industry to ensure ease of integration in multi-vendor OSS.BSS environments.

"As CSPs worldwide seek to transform their businesses, there is an increased focus on OSS/BSS improving time to market for innovative new services that create new revenue and market-differentiation opportunities," said Dennis Tinley, President, Operations and Transformation Solutions, Telcordia, in a Tuesday statement.

"Being chosen to lead the Catalyst Program project continues Telcordia's long history of helping CSPs transform their OSS/BSS from a rigid platform to a flexible and nimble system that facilitates seamless communications to drive operational efficiencies and profit."

The Telcordia team is sponsored by Telecom India and led by Allen Seidman, Vice President, Business Development and Product Marketing for Telcordia. The Catalyst project includes significant contributions by Cisco, SAP and SITA CORP and is expected to use commercial software products including ERP, Master Data Management, OSS inventory and Network Resource Management products.

The effective integration of systems and the network, which will be based on one information solution, will use a commercial industry information services model that is based on globally hosted registries. Content will be provided from global equipment vendors and leveraged by CSPs around the world.

Equipment-related information will be a focus for the project. It will also provide demonstrable examples of how ERP applications can be integrated with traditional OSS, network elements and Network Resource Management software through the use of commercial Master Data Management technology, middleware and a globally manage industry infrastructure.

Telcordia Common Language Information Services are included in the company’s OSS/BSS solutions. This suite of products is designed to help CSPs to lower data administration costs by as much as 90 percent, while also significantly reducing systems integration and ease communications across poorly integrated systems and organizations.

Telcordia’s OSS/BSS portfolio also includes the Telcordia Fulfillment Suite which provides provisioning, discovery, activation and order management. This suite is designed to provide CSPs with an enterprise-wide view of their services, application-specific resources and network, along with a comprehensive set of provisioning capabilities.

The selection of Telcordia to participate in this project is a testament to the company’s commitment to delivering valuable information across the enterprise. Such practices are gaining popularity as companies are realizing the benefits from not only capturing information, but plugging it in across the organization. In doing so, the company is better suited to develop products and services that meet the customers needs today.
