Whitebirch Software Releases Planning 7.0

Whitebirch Software, a vendor of business planning, forecasting, and budgeting software, announced the availability of Whitebirch Planning 7.0. The release's enhancements include the ability to extend Whitebirch Planning's library of standard financial objects, called Business Building Blocks, with business-specific logic.

New Line Item Sets have also been added. They reference multiple line items for use in formulas and reports, regardless of when or where those lines are added to the model.

Other enhancements include several new or improved features for routine planning tasks, such as a set of specialized reports for detailing specific lists of business building blocks, an upgrade to "find and replace" that supports title prefixes and suffixes and modifications to objects that allow accumulated depreciation and amortization to be reported as negative values.

Whitebirch Planning is a modeling product for small-to-medium businesses as well as accounting and professional service firms. It supports dynamic, object-based budgeting, forecasting and planning models tied to business drivers. The platform is available in either on-demand or on-premises options,

LISets "speeds report creation by linking line items without the need for a specific reference to each item," company officials say. VAT computation, for example, can be executed throughout a model as items are added, a headcount report can be updated automatically with each new employee, regardless of where in the organization they are added.

Last summer the vendor launched Whitebirch Planning, its upgrade for Projected Financials, which "incorporates significant new features and functionality," according to the Whitebirchers. It's intended to help create dynamic budgets and rolling forecasts.

Michael Hoffmann, Whitebirch's CEO, said at the time "We've re-designed the report generator for enhanced, multi-dimensional customized reporting. The new reports are highly configurable, giving customers greater flexibility and improved analytical capabilities."
