Eltek Valere Announces High-Efficiency Telco Rectifier
January 31, 2008
Eltek Valere has launched the Flatpack2 HE Rectifier Module 48/2000. The new AC-to-DC power rectifier for telecommunications applications offers 96 percent typical power conversion efficiency — the highest level in the industry, according to the firm.
Because the rectifier cuts in half the power loss from today’s state-of-the art power conversion technology, it reduces the power consumed — and lowers operating costs — for telco services.
According to industry estimates, telecom service providers used one percent of the total electricity consumed in 2007, with over 115 billion kW/h of electricity flowing through AC-DC power systems to power network equipment. Eltek Valere suggests that approximately ten percent of that power is wasted due to power conversion inefficiency.
Eltek Valere’s new Flatpack2 HE is the first in a line of high-efficiency rectifiers from the company that will help carriers reduce their power consumption dramatically. This standalone 48-volt rectifier and battery charger provides up to 2,000 Watts of power for telecom applications.
Greg Fasullo, Eltek Valere chief marketing officer said carriers must boost their power consumption to meet broadband and wireless service demand, but, at the same time want to meet their commitments to the environment.
Fasullo emphasized that the Flatpack2 HE is ideal for all Telco applications, giving carriers new ways to be green and to save enough money to pay for the upgrade to a high-efficiency power plant in a short period of time.
As Flatpack2 HE rectifiers boast a wide operating temperature range of -40 degrees to 85 degrees, and a small form factor, they are ideal for remote terminal locations applications. They can also be integrated into systems with an output of up to 100 kW for use in central offices. The new module features a controller area network (CAN) bus
interface that allows it to communicate with Eltek Valere's Smartpack controller or to be integrated into customer cabinets.
The new Flatpack2 HE Rectifier Module 48/2000 is now available from Eltek Valere and its resellers worldwide. Pricing begins at $450.
