Call Center Services Agents Being Hired in Colorado Springs

December 06, 2010

Through a recent press release, Granada Corp., of Santa Barbara, a Calif.-based startup call center operator, will hire 110 bilingual home-based agents in Colorado Springs, Colo., during the next year for insurance sales and claims customer service.

The call center is going to host a job fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Pikes Peak Workforce Center, 2306 E. Pikes Peak Ave., for this purpose. Initial 30 bilingual sales and claims agents will be recruited through the job fair, company officials informed.

The sales agents must be licensed to sell insurance by the state of Colorado and will start at about $14 an hour, while the claims agents do not need an insurance license and will start at about $9.50 an hour, said Kit Cooper, Granada Corp.'s founder and CEO.

The selected agents will be required to commit to a fixed schedule. In addition, they will need to provide their own computer, high-speed Internet service and a dedicated traditional telephone line. The company will, however, be providing a headset and desktop security software.

Cooper said Granada wants to fill 10 insurance sales jobs immediately and up to 20 in the next year in Colorado Springs.

By March, the company will be hiring 20 claims service agents in Colorado Springs, as well as up to 200 claims service agents, and two other Texas cities over the next year. Granada did not disclose the client’s name in the release.

He estimates about 80 of the claims service agents will be needed over the next year will be hired in Colorado Springs, which was chosen as a recruiting location by the call center over four other cities. The CEO declined to name the cities.

“We focus on certain geographic areas from a labor standpoint for individual clients. From the outset, we were attracted to Colorado Springs' vibrant Hispanic American population. Research shows that the city is home to over 50,000 Hispanic Americans. We quickly learned that the Colorado Springs work force also has very high education levels. We also believe that significant demand exists for customer service jobs that allow people the convenience, work/life balance and cost savings of working out of their homes,” Cooper explained in a statement.

Mike Kazmierski, CEO of the Colorado Springs Regional Economic Development Corp., which recruited Granada to Colorado Springs, said the group is “excited about these new jobs for our bilingual work force. Every new job in our community helps to improve our economic landscape and improve some family's quality of life.”

Months back, Granada Corp selected RingCube vDesk as a critical component for the company's business and ability to protect corporate and client information.
