Steelwedge SPPM Now Available on the Salesforce AppExchange

September 18, 2007

Steelwedge Software has announced the release of its on-demand sales and operation planning solution for salesforce.com’s AppExchange. The Steelwedge Sales Planning and Performance Management Suite (SPPM) extends the AppExchange CRM functionality to deliver comprehensive sales forecasting and sales and operations planning solutions for manufacturers of complex products.

Announced today at Dreamforce ’07, salesforce.com’s User and Developer Conference, the Steelwedge sales and operations planning solution is built on the Force.com platform and is immediately available as an integrated client application with AppExchange.

Steelwedge serves as a certified AppExchange partner and is part of the new high tech and manufacturing vertical category on the AppExchange. The solution is designed to help companies to create, validate and synchronize revenue plans, while also aligning them with business and financial targets to improve sales and operations planning for better executive visibility and control over enterprise performance.

"Steelwedge is the best overall solution to meet our needs for collaborative sales forecasting and seamless integration with Salesforce.com," said Spansion Director of Business Operations Pete Pichette, in a Tuesday statement.

"Their rapid, on-demand, unique package of features and benefits includes a single plan of record that facilitates planning and management, Enterprise Enabled Excel(TM) that drives internal and external collaboration and proactive, in-box based, exception-driven feedback and accountability."

"Working with salesforce.com in high tech and manufacturing is a perfect fit for us," said Steelwedge CEO Glen Margolis, in Tuesday’s statement. "As the leader in this vertical since 2001 helping companies like Spansion, EDS, Nvidia, Honeywell, Qlogic, Tellabs, Juniper Networks and Harley-Davidson improve their operational and financial performance through 'Best Practices' for collaborative sales forecasting, S&OP.”

"Salesforce.com customers can use the AppExchange to find and deploy on-demand applications that cater to the needs of their specific vertical markets," said George Hu, Chief Marketing Officer at salesforce.com, in Tuesday’s statement.

"Steelwedge brings significant experience to our high tech and manufacturing customers. Their collaborative sales forecasting solution can extend Salesforce CRM to provide operations planning solutions to meet the needs of this market."

Steelwedge has done well to understand the benefit of offering an on-demand solution that allows businesses to customize a solution to fit their needs at the time. The AppExchange is also the perfect place to offer solutions that are scalable to encourage long-term usage as the solutions can be modified to the changing needs of the business.

On-demand solutions have grown in popularity as companies have discovered the flexibility and costs savings that are inherent with such a platform. In addition, without the excessive investments in software deployments, businesses of all sizes are in a better position to make necessary changes as their business and the industry changes, thus lending to building their competitive advantage.
