Vodacom South Africa Garners Support at Football World Cup for Convergys Upgrade

Thanks to the successful upgrade to Convergys Rating and Billing Manager, the subscribers of Vodacom South Africa were rewarded with unprecedented support at the recent Football World Cup held in South Africa by Convergys Corporation.


The upgrade has resulted in a wide range of benefits for Vodacom, including new offers and promotions; the ability of subscribers to migrate to new products and services at any time; a simplified operational process; enhanced discounts on new products and tariffs; and a reduced total cost of ownership.

Vodacom is an arm of the Vodacom Group, a mobile communications company that provides voice, data, messaging, and other converged services to over 40 million customers in Africa and has been a Convergys client since the year 2001. In view of the World Cup, Vodacom had launched a wide range of football-themed products and services for its customers. This venture was a byproduct of the successful upgrade to Convergys Rating and Billing Manager, and the resulting “go-live” of more than 3.5 million post-paid, wholesale, wireless subscribers of Vodacom.

“This upgrade was critical to delivering our product requirements around the football competition,” said Derek Morgan, managing executive of Billing Systems Group for Vodacom, in a statement. “The Convergys team worked closely with the Vodacom South Africa team to make this upgrade a success.”

“With a strong working relationship developed over many years, Convergys understood the importance of upgrading Vodacom South Africa’s Rating and Billing Manager before the football tournament,” said Riki Allon, senior vice president and general manager of Convergys EMEA. “Working collaboratively, we completed a system upgrade, enabling Vodacom South Africa to launch football-themed offers.”
