LogicaCMG Hires CRM Veteran for Sydney

September 04, 2007

LogicaCMG, am Australia-based international vendor of IT and business services, has announced the appointment of CRM veteran Sorin Toma as its Energy and Utilities Director based in Sydney.

The appointment comes at a time as the utilities market gears up for new challenges in IT infrastructure resulting from industry privatization, carbon emissions trading, renewable energy and the introduction of interval metering in Victoria and New South Wales.

Toma has held executive positions at EDS, Deloitte Consulting and Accenture focused on the development and implementation of corporate strategies and large-scale business transformation engagements.

At Deloitte Consulting, he successfully completed enterprise-wide transformation engagements in the energy, telecommunications and government sectors, including large systems ERP and CRM deployment, enterprise architecture, business process redesign, change management and business and technology strategic planning.

Last year LogicaCMG announced that it was selected by Proximus, a Belgian mobile operator, to provide a Multimedia Messaging Service Centre platform to replace the operator’s existing MMS infrastructure.

The MMSC platform, in conjunction with a media adaptation system from MobiXell, was designed to improve the "subscriber experience" across the entire range of multimedia messaging in addition to providing Proximus with real time data analysis of MMS traffic, according to LogicaCMG officials at the time.

Belgian local operators have seen a surge in demand for more mobile content services, and are sending rich multimedia messages including video and audio files. The Proximus investment is seen as a reflection of this strong interest in MMS services among Belgian consumers who, without subsidised contracts, invest a premium in handsets and need to be able to use them to their full capability.

A year ago LogicaCMG announced that it was opening a new global service delivery center in the Philippines. Located in Metro Manila, the location was to provide services to LogicaCMG's customers from across the world.
