Financial Information Systems for California Adopts SaaS Delivery Model to Procure Kovair Solution

May 26, 2010

New technological advances have enabled the creation of distributed collaborative industrial networks giving origin to new collaborative business models. These industrial networks require new information and communication technologies infrastructures to support collaborative business processes among Small and Medium-sized Enterprises.

Software asa service "SaaS" has moved quickly froma peripheral idea toa mainstream phenomenon. By bundlinga software product with delivery and maintenanceservice, SaaS providers can effectively differentiate their products with traditional shrink-wrapsoftware.

Kovair Software  announced today that FI$CAL, the Financial Information Systems for California State has adopted the Software as a Service delivery model in procuring the Requirements Management Solution of Kovair for their internal needs.

Bipin Shah, CEO of Kovair said that in choosing the SaaS model, which works on a monthly per user subscription payment basis for the use of the software applications instead of procuring a perpetual license with a large investment upfront, as has been the traditional practice, FI$CAL officials acted very prudently in a very tight budget situation for the State.

Kovair Software is the innovation leader in global Application Lifecycle Management - ALM and IT Service Management - ITSM solutions, supporting globally distributed multi-site application development and service. Its flagship product, Kovair Global Lifecycle, is a web based, feature-rich, configurable development platform with built-in workflow and integration framework that offers a complete set of integrated tools and processes for managing the entire IT lifecycle.

Sky Basu, the CTO of Kovair Software added that SaaS or the Cloud Computing model of software applications utilization has been the buzz in the industry for the recent past and this decision by the State Agency is an excellent example of progressive thinking and using the tax payer dollars wisely.

He continued that more and more government agencies should consider this model for software procurement if it meets their needs both for required applications as well as non-compromised satisfaction of requirements for a given usage.
