Radiant Systems Launches Aloha Restaurant Guard to Detect Fraud Among Employees

February 12, 2010

Radiant Systems, Inc. reportedly announced that it launched Aloha Restaurant Guard, a powerful application within its hosted solutions suite that helps restaurant owners profitably control operations.

The application can analyze Point-of-Sale data and transactions for the identification of common employee scams and other fraudulent activities in a restaurant, Radiant sources said.

“We have seen clear benefits since implementing Aloha Restaurant Guard,” Lori Kittle, vice president of information technology for Landry’s Restaurants said, whose company operates more than 180 U.S. locations, including Rainforest Café and The Chart House.

Kittle said that the application gives access to information never before available. Fraud and theft are reduced by identifying specific instances and by the creation of an environment of accountability by this new identification process.

Aloha Restaurant Guard is a hosted back office application which will helps restaurant owners gain more visibility into thefts in their establishment. The monitoring of all POS activities in real time helps generate reports that identify situations that are common in most restaurants to help stop wrong activities and hence prevent profit loss.

The application increases security levels and controls and prevents theft without any impact to guest experience. The application leverages artificial intelligence for the provision of in-depth server summary reports which compiles loss prevention and incident history. Operators will also gain insights into the performance of employees.

“Radiant is excited to see the success and peace of mind Aloha Restaurant Guard has brought to thousands of restaurant operators across the United States,” Jeff Hughes, vice president of hosted solutions at Radiant Systems, said. “Aloha Restaurant Guard is an example of Radiant’s mission to drive value into our products and help our customers see increased profits and improved operations from their restaurant technology.”

Aloha Restaurant Guard is used in more than 3,000 quick service and table service restaurant locations. One of Radiant’s customers using Aloha said that it is an impactful application to restaurant operations like the Aloha POS as it helped him detect that more than 40 percent of his employees were stealing leading to profit loss.
