Psion, TECSYS Enhance Supply Chain Management with Visual Logistics Solution

February 04, 2010

Psion Teklogix, Inc., a provider of mobile computing solutions and TECSYS Inc. reportedly announced that Psion’s rugged handheld computers have been certified on TECSYS’ Virtual Logistics software.

TECSYS is a supply chain management software company. The company’s Visual Logistics software running on Psion Teklogix’ mobile handhelds will eliminate the barriers to execution in the warehouse by visually communicating instructions to workers. This will hasten putaway, picking and packing tasks with less error, explained TECSYS sources.

Visual communication is useful where multiple languages and other factors may affect communications and logistics cycles. In such cases Psion Teklogix devices and TECSYS software will help companies save time and money by enhancing service levels without adding more manpower.

According to John Reichert, WMS product manager at TECSYS said, Psion Teklogix has always been a very important strategic TECSYS partner, and have collaborated with TECSYS to help bring Visual Logistics to the market.

“The certification of its rugged mobile computing products for use with our new Visual Logistics further builds upon the synergies of our two companies,” Reichert said. “Our goal using Visual Logistics is to place know-how from throughout an enterprise’s supply chain in the hands of workers to streamline and further optimize execution in the warehouse.”

Mobile computing vendors need to meet certain speed or response time benchmarks, reliability and expanded keyboard flexibility above WMS applications for fulfilling TECSYS’ Visual Logistics certification standards. Psion’s WORKABOUT PRO and 7535 G2 rugged handheld computers have successfully passed these criteria and have been approved by TECSYS for field deployment.

Mike Jachimiec, vice president of channel sales at Psion Teklogix, said that most customers rely on TECSYS and the ability to work together to provide a new level of response time and operational efficiency. This will give these organizations a strategic and competitive advantage.

He pointed out that there are a huge number of needs and applications in the market and Psion Teklogix is dedicated to providing the best technology available to customers. The partnership between Psion Teklogix and TECSYS will provide greater accuracy and bring a streamlined approach to visual logistics in industry applications.
