Keynote to Monitor Retailers During 2009 Online Holiday Shopping Season
By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet ContributorKeynote Competitive Research, a provider of on-demand test & measurement solutions for improving the online experience, has announced it will be monitoring the performance of online retailers during the upcoming 2009 online holiday shopping season.
According to officials with Keynote, the company will be readily available to media on Black Friday (News - Alert), Cyber Monday and through the Christmas season for reporting on the speed and reliability of leading online holiday shopping sites.
The online retail transaction performance indices from Keynote are an early indicator for how well sites might be able to stand up to crowds that typically swamp sites during the holidays.
According to Ben Rushlo, director of competitive research at Keynote, given the general economic situation, every dollar counts more than ever in the online retail environment. At the same time, retailers continue to add interactive technologies which lead to increased complexity.
The mix of increased complexity and the chasing of fewer dollars online requires that the site perform flawlessly. Keynote expects many sites to flounder as the demands of the holiday season exert excessive pressure on some already unstable sites. This season will likely separate the outstanding sites and consumers will judge these sites’ performance with their dollars.
The Keynote Retail Transaction Performance Indices measure and benchmark the performance for an online shopping transaction for each leading retail site, including product search, shopping cart and checkout process performance.
