Qwest Communications Named Market Leader for Ethernet Services

Qwest Communications has reportedly been named the “Market Leader” for Ethernet services by research-advisory firm Nemertes Research in its recently announced 2009 PilotHouse Awards. Nemertes Research has a proven track record in analyzing and quantifying business value of emerging technologies.
Qwest's (News - Alert) customers rated the company highly across the board, and particularly in the critical area of customer service. Companies that do well in customer service are poised to succeed," said Johna Till Johnson, president and senior founding partner, Nemertes Research, in a statement.
The 2009 PilotHouse Awards used business customer survey ratings from nearly 1,400 telecom decision-makers to rank service providers. The survey results have been published in a report titled Nemertes Research’s PilotHouse Awards – Top Providers: Ethernet Services 2009, which was released on Nov. 2. Qwest received the highest rank for carrier Ethernet services, highest overall in Ethernet services value and highest overall in customer service.
Customers leverage Qwest’s Ethernet services to enjoy affordable scalable, high-value bandwidth to meet metro-area and long-haul networking needs. The Ethernet services offered by Qwest range from optical wavelength and metro optical Ethernet to point-to-point Ethernet over private lines. In September, TMCnet reported that Qwest has launched its new fiber-based, Ethernet backhaul service designed for wireless service providers.
The company is planning to upgrade its nationwide network with breakthrough technology that will allow sit to offer speeds of up to 100 Gigabits per second.
“Qwest places significant emphasis on delivering outstanding product solutions and superior customer service,” Chris Ancell, executive vice president, Qwest Business Markets Group, said in a statement. “Because the PilotHouse Awards are based on first-hand customer rankings, they are a key validation of the efforts we have undertaken to differentiate ourselves in the marketplace.”
A price-performance leader, Qwest Communications prides in its strong national fiber optic network. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the company offers network, data and voice services to 95 percent of Fortune 500 companies. It serves residential customers by offering a combination of award-winning high-speed Internet, home and wireless voice solutions and digital TV.  TMCnet recently reported that Qwest Communications has been honored with eight “carrier excellence” awards from ATLANTIC-ACM, a research consultancy serving the telecommunications and information industries.
