Hostway Joins Microsoft BizSpark Program as a Network Partner

July 09, 2009

Hostway Corp., a global Web services provider, has announced its acceptance into the Microsoft BizSpark program as a Network Partner.

Hostway expects BizSpark to be one “cornerstone” of the portfolio of services that it offers to some of the emerging technology companies, and is part of a new start-up portal.

The technology start-ups that join Microsoft’s business accelerator program can now receive virtually free software to run on the advanced server solutions they lease from Hostway, according to company officials.

As a BizSpark partner, Hostway can now offer start-ups access to Microsoft’s current full-featured development tools and platform technologies. In addition, start-ups can also access production licenses to bring to market interoperable solutions for the next generation of user experiences.

Todd Benjamin, director of enterprise hosting at Hostway, said in a release that BizSpark is an innovative program that enables the company to add additional value to the network and hosted server products it already offers to these organizations.

Company officials said that the start up portal will continue to be enhanced with additional resources and product offerings to help companies get online.

For the start-up clients, Hostway has designed new packaged solutions. Officials said that these solutions will simplify ordering and deployment of a turnkey enterprise class online presence.

“We understand the challenges that start-ups face in today’s economy as they try to create viable, scalable and sustainable businesses,” said John Zanni, general manager of the worldwide software plus services industry for the communications sector at Microsoft.

He said that the Microsoft BizSpark program provides start-ups with a “unique opportunity” to take advantage of Microsoft software, expert support and visibility during a critical time for their business.

In order to be eligible for the Microsoft BizSpark program, start-ups must be actively engaged in development of a software-based product or service that is a core piece of their business model. Also, start-ups should be in business for less than three years and having less than $1 million in revenue.

Start-ups can participate in the program by obtaining sponsorship from a designated BizSpark Network Partner, according to Microsoft.
