OYO Geospace Achieves Real-Time Inventory Visibility with DSI

June 30, 2009

OYO Geospace is using the dcLINK data collection solution from Data Systems International (DSI) to gain accurate, real-time visibility of its inventory of materials and finished goods.

DSI’s solution helps enterprises to eliminate paper-based processes and enhance accuracy and efficiency. dcLINK also enables uninterrupted data collection and transaction execution as part of the work process.

OYO Geospace specializes in designing and manufacturing of instruments and equipment used by the oil and gas industry. Todd DeLoach, warehouse manager, OYO Geospace, said he appreciates dcLINK for its ability to keep everything real-time. The implementation has helped the company to know immediately that required items are available and that they have been committed to the work order or the sales order.

“That's real-time for us, and it's a great, great benefit,” DeLoach said in a release.

DSI’s solution for OYO Geospace includes dcLINK with integration to Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, as well as Intermec barcode scanners for data collection. Following the deployment OYO has experienced improved inventory accuracy (39 percent) thanks to the elimination of paper-based processes.

OYO has also been able to eliminate time and expense of a full physical inventory, gained visibility of individual serialized finished goods and successfully streamlined processes associated with their movement.

Bobby Hoeflich, IT Director, OYO Geospace acknowledges that the benefits that they have seen so far have gone beyond initial expectations.

DSI is a global provider of enterprise mobility solutions. The company was in news last month when it announced the acquisition of Unibar, a provider of high performance enterprise barcode and RFID printing software for UNIX, Linux, and Windows.

Commenting on the strategic acquisition, Matt McGraw, President of DSI said that Unibar's barcode printing and RFID offerings will aid them to deliver end-to-end mobile solutions to their enterprise clients.
