AIS Implements Gearworks' Mobile WMS in Michigan

June 29, 2009

AIS Construction Equipment, a dealer for several heavy equipment manufacturers, has announced it implemented Gearworks’ etrace mobile workforce management solution throughout the state of Michigan.

The implementation was done by Michigan-based software integrator, Visible Asset.

AIS Equipment recently implemented etrace throughout its workforce. The wireless initiative is designed to improve service efficiency in its seven offices with 47 field technicians and 36 dispatchers and managers. The dealer also expects to reduce overall costs with this implementation.

etrace uses GPS capabilities of wireless phones to allow technicians in the field to track data related to labor hours and mileage calculation in near real-time. The solution enables workers to enter repair notes into their handsets and print work orders before leaving the customer.

Jon Hoffman, general services manager for AIS Construction Equipment emphasized the importance of providing a very high level of responsiveness to customers. He is happy with Gearworks’ etrace mobile workforce management solution that allows their supervisors to know exactly where each job stands and simplifies the paper work for their mobile workers.

The secure wireless and Web-based mobile workforce management solution allows AIS to create accurate invoices on-demand and target specific areas they want to improve.

Hoffman informs that the solution has freed up an average of two hours per day for each worker, and has saved AIS more than $300,000 in the past year.

Rob Juncker, chief technology officer for Gearworks recognizes that it’s critical for companies like AIS Construction Equipment to get timely and useful information to workers in the field. This helps them establish long-term customer relations and secure return sales.

Thanks to etrace, AIS Construction Equipment can keep field workers up-to-speed by sending information directly to a technician's handset, while syncing all reporting from the field with back office applications.
