Sonus PSX SWe and DSC SWe Address Service Provider and Enterprise Requirements for NFV/SDN

October 07, 2014

Bandwidth-on-demand is currently topping the list for new revenue generating opportunities in network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN) environments. Sonus is a provider of a complete portfolio of hardware-based and virtualized solutions serving customers in nearly one hundred countries and have nearly two decades of experience. The company is all set to move a step further with the launch of its Sonus PSX SWe and the Sonus DSC SWe virtualized platforms.

This new approach to virtualization will help Sonus deliver security, voice and video quality, centralized policy management and broad interoperability features to enable customers to migrate their networks to NFV. The Sonus PSX SWe and DSC SWe are designed to address service provider and enterprise requirements for NFV/SDN enabled technology to scale Cloud-based delivery platforms for real-time communications.

“The advent of virtualization technologies has radically changed how service providers and enterprises introduce new features and services,” David Tipping, vice president and general manager, Products, Sonus said in a statement.

“Sonus is committed to leading the way in delivering the flexibility and capability of virtualization so customers can simply and effectively deploy fully-featured SBCs, policy and routing management and diameter signaling controllers,” Tipping added.

Virtualized communications networks enable service providers and enterprises to dramatically reduce the time, risk and expense of introducing new services. For Sonus customers, the PSX SWe delivers a wide range of real-world benefits, including intelligent routing, simplified network management, lower cost and increased margins for delivering real-time communications such as Voice over LTE, Voice over Internet Protocol and video calls.

The Sonus DSC is a carrier-grade solution designed to solve the diameter routing dilemma, and the DSC SWe addresses all functionality required for both core and edge diameter routing within the all-IP, service-oriented, IMS and LTE networks. The DSC SWe offers customers with the facility to scale deployments from proof of concept to production solely by adding licenses as needed.

Sonus also confirmed its partnership with Juniper Networks, which will allow all of Sonus’ virtualized platforms to be now interoperable with the Juniper Networks Contrail controller for SDN and NFV.
